Editorial: EN This first issue for 2008 sees EuNet, we believe, in good heart. Following the annual meeting at Salzburg we have:
For those not there, there should be more detail in our next issue re the annual conference at Salzburg. Those who were there would, we think, agree that there was a sense of purpose around the membership because for the first time that there were real prospects ahead for our network. Preparations for our next issue start at once - but, as always, we need input/contributions/ideas/feedback from yourselves. There must be communication throughout the network to make it live - not just once a year or in one direction. So - 2008 should be a year of growth and progress for EuNet. It is that positive spirit that your editors send all fellow members our best wishes for a dynamic and rewarding year ahead in 2008. We look forward to seeing many of you at the final conference of the EUNET Integration Network project - at Sonnenberg, 25th-27th January.
DE Als ersten Punkt für 2008 ist EUNET, so glauben wir, in guter Verfassung. Durch das Jahrestreffen in Salzburg haben wir:
Für diejenigen, die nicht anwesend waren wird es in der nächsten Ausgabe mehr Details zur Mitgliederversammlung in Salzburg geben. Diejenigen die dort waren werden, so vermuten wir, zustimmen, dass ein Gefühl der Sinnhaftigkeit der Mitgliedschaft entstand, da zum ersten mal ein wirklicher Fortschritt in Sicht ist. Die Vorbereitung für die nächste Ausgabe beginnt ab sofort - wie immer brauchen wir aber Beiträge / Inhalte / Ideen und feedback von Ihnen. Kommunikation ist notwendig um das Netzwerk lebendig zu machen - nicht nur einmal im Jahr oder nur in eine Richtung. So - 2008 sollte ein Jahr des Fortschritts und Wachstums für EuNet sein. Im Sinne dieses positiven Geistes senden Ihnen die Herausgeber die besten Wünsche für ein dynamisches und erfolgreiches Jahr 2008. Wir freuen uns darauf viele von Ihnen bei der Abschlusskonferenz des EUNET Integration Network Projekts vom 25. bis 27. Januar 2008 im Internationalen Haus Sonnenberg wiederzusehen.
Nina Nørgård - chairman's message:
EN Dear EuNet colleagues, It was an honour to be elected President of the network recently, and I am looking very much forward to the work over the next three years. I was one of the co-founders of EuNet in 2004, and during that period I have been very active:
As President I shall not be as active as before in the committee - but I still believe that project development and the carrying out of projects/activities are at the core of the work in EUNET. Without developing new projects/activities and implementing them the network has no purpose.
That said I know one of the main tasks for the new board will be to consolidate and expand our network. It was uphill for us until we received the operation grant from the EU - without which we shouldn't have been able to continue. We owe great thanks to our former president and to French members of the European Parliament that we finally succeeded in obtaining this grant, and a major concern will be to convince Brussels that the right decision was taken and secure the grant beyond the year 2010 by expanding the network.
I also hope to see member organisations becoming more actively involved, in a variety of activities/projects that we can all benefit from. We rely heavily upon input from our members and shall do everything to make communications better and more efficient - but it also goes the other way round. A final thing I want to point to is that I believe we are in sincere lack of a youth committee in our network. Those of you who were in Salzburg met Barbara Lucius, who introduced Youth Moving Europe - and at the next board meeting, in Bonn in December, we shall discuss the possibility of setting up a new committee. I am looking very much forward to our cooperation in the future.

DE Liebe EUNET Kolleginnen und Kollegen, Es war eine Ehre kürzlich zur EUNET Präsidentin gewählt zu werden, und ich freue mich sehr auf die Arbeit in den kommenden drei Jahren. Ich war im Jahr 2004 einer der Gründer von EUNET und bin in dieser Zeit sehr aktiv gewesen:
Als Präsidentin werde ich in dem Komitee nicht so aktiv sein wie zuvor - aber ich glaube nach wie vor, dass die Projektentwicklung und die Durchführung von Projekten/Aktivitäten das Herzstück der Arbeit von EUNET sind. Ohne die Entwicklung neuer Projekte/Aktivitäten, und deren Implementierung, hat das Netzwerk keinen Zweck.
Nichtsdestoweniger weiß ich, dass eine der Hauptaufgaben des neuen Präsidiums die Konsolidierung und Erweiterung unseres Netzwerks sein wird. Es ging mit uns bergauf bis wir den Betriebskostenzuschuss der EU erhalten haben- ohne den wir nicht in der Lage gewesen wären weiter zu machen. Wir schulden unserem früheren Präsidenten und den französischen Abgeordneten des Europäischen Parlaments großen Dank dafür, dass wir diesen Zuschuss am Ende erhalten haben, und ein wichtiges Anliegen wird sein, Brüssel davon zu überzeugen die richtige Entscheidung getroffen zu haben und den Zuschuss, durch Erweiterung des Netzwerks, über das Jahr 2010 hinaus zu sichern.
Ich hoffe ebenfalls zu sehen, wie Mitgliedseinrichtungen sich aktiver in eine Vielzahl von Aktivitäten/Projekten, von denen wir alle profitieren können, einbringen. Wir sind hochgradig auf Input von unseren Mitgliedern angewiesen und werden alles unternehmen, um die Kommunikation zu verbessern und effektiver zu gestalten - dies gilt aber auch in die andere Richtung. Ein letzter Punkt auf den ich hinweisen möchte ist, dass ich glaube das Fehlen eines Jugendkomitees ist ein ernsthafter Mangel in unserem Netzwerk. Diejenigen von Ihnen, die in Salzburg gewesen sind haben Barbara Lucius, diejenige die Youth moving Europe vorgestellt hat, getroffen - und auf der nächsten Präsidiumssitzung, im Dezember in Bonn, werden wir die Möglichkeiten eines neuen Komitees diskutieren. Ich freue mich sehr auf unsere zukünftige Zusammenarbeit.

Richard Stock - message from outgoing chairman: FR EUNET, acte I D'où venons-nous ? Les Maisons de l'Europe réunies le 20 mars 2004 à Otzenhausen avaient constitué un comité d'initiative pour la fondation d'un nouveau réseau européen qui comprenait au départ huit membres issus de pays européens différents : Wico L. J. Bunskoek, Kontakt der Kontinenten, Soesterberg (NL), Hanns Christhard Eichhorst, E.A. NRW Bonn (D), Teresa Freitas, C.E. Ribatejo, Santarém (P), Nina Nørgaard, IUC Svendborg (DK), Alessandra Pedagna-Leccese, C.E. Mario Zagari, Gaeta (I), Willibald Richter, E.Z. Graz (A), Tomáš Sedlák, E.D. Jihlava (CZ) et Richard Stock, ME Robert Schuman, Scy-Chazelles (F). Les objectifs principaux du Comité d'initiative étaient la constitution d'une représentation permanente des Maisons de l'Europe auprès des institutions européennes, la mise en place d'un nouveau réseau européen doté de la personnalité juridique et l'obtention d'aides financières européennes. Qu'avons-nous réalisé ? EUNET s'est constitué officiellement en décembre 2004. Ouvert à d'autres ONG qui poursuivent les mêmes buts que les Maisons de l'Europe, l'European Network for Education and Training compte aujourd'hui plus de 60 membres dans environ 20 pays membres.. Le Parlement européen, le Conseil des Ministres et la Commission européenne ont exprimé, tour à tour et à plusieurs reprises au cours de l'année 2006, leur confiance aux Maisons de l'Europe et à leur nouveau réseau EUNET. Ce dernier bénéficie, au titre du nouveau Programme "L'Europe pour les citoyens" d'un soutien financier structurel direct. Si par cette subvention de fonctionnement les institutions européennes reconnaissent l'intérêt et la qualité des réalisations des Maisons de l'Europe, ce soutien au réseau européen ne bénéficie cependant que três indirectement aux activités de terrain réalisées par les Maisons de l'Europe. C'est pourquoi, EUNET a proposé à Madame Margot Wallström, vice-présidente de la Commission européenne, l'instauration, dês que possible, d'appels á propositions pluriannuels spécifiques aux organismes poursuivant un but d'intérêt général européen dans le domaine de l'information et de la formation à la citoyenneté européenne, fédérés au niveau européen. A terme, c'est-à-dire, à compter de 2010, EUNET demande à la Direction générale Communication de la Commission européenne d'apporter des aides directes aux Maisons de l'Europe pour leurs activités de terrain grâce à la base légale du programme "L'Europe pour les citoyens". Au moment de quitter mes fonctions de président fondateur d'EUNET, j'ai le plaisir d'affirmer que tous les objectifs que le comité d'initiative s'étaient fixés sont atteints : la bonne image des Maisons de l'Europe est restaurée au Parlement européen, au Conseil des Ministres et à la Commission européenne ; le nouveau réseau existe et fonctionne grâce à une subvention des institutions européennes ; les maisons de l'Europe peuvent à nouveau participer librement aux appels à propositions de la Commission européenne et nombre d'entre elles portent actuellement des projets financés par des aides européennes. Aussi, je souhaite remercier vivement tous ceux qui se sont engagés à mes cotés et qui ont partagé ces trois derniêres années les joies et les peines : les membres du comité d'initiative et plus particuliêrement Hanns Christhard Eichhorst et Wico L. J. Bunskoek pour les aides financières et matérielles qu'ils ont apportées au réseau. Mes remerciements vont aussi à Jeanne-Françoise Hutin et à Georges Garot, respectivement présidents des Maisons de l'Europe de Rennes et de Laval pour leur soutien au sein du Parlement européen. Sans l'excellent travail de notre Représentant permanent, Thomas Heckeberg, EUNET n'aurait pas pu déployer le large bouquet d'activités fédérales qui est le sien depuis plusieurs années. Je n'oublie pas les Maisons de l'Europe qui ont accepté en toute confiance de verser pendant trois années des cotisations (parfois élevées par rapport à leurs propres moyens) pour soutenir la création du réseau. Unis, nous avons été efficaces ! Que reste-t-il à faire ? Si cette première période législative s'achève sur des succès, il reste cependant de nombreuses tâches à mener à bien. Nina Nørgaard que vous avez élue pour me succéder aura la charge de pérenniser la subvention de fonctionnement d'EUNET et d'élargir les financements européens vers les projets de terrain en liaison avec la DG Communication. L'importante échéance de 2009 de révision des programmes européens devra être préparée dês à présent à tous les niveaux : au Parlement européen, au Conseil des ministres et, bien entendu, avec tous les services de la Commission européenne. A l'intérieur d'EUNET, le nouveau système des cotisations qui entre en vigueur dès le 1er janvier 2008 permettra l'élargir le réseau par l'arrivée de nouveaux membres. Il faudra aussi consolider nos deux groupements : celui, fondamental, des méthodes et des contenus qui devra notamment être présent sur les appels à propositions des institutions européennes et celui, stratégique, du développement et de la coopération qui doit notamment intégrer la plateforme des Organisations internationales non gouvernementales du Conseil de l'Europe pour initier des partenariats avec d'autres réseaux. C'est d'ailleurs à ce dernier défi que je souhaite à présent me consacrer plus particulièrement. A bientôt donc, là-bas en Europe, où l'union fait la force !

März 2004 in Otzenhausen vertreten waren, haben ein Initiativkomitee zur Gründung eines Europäischen Netzwerkes, das anfänglich acht Mitglieder aus verschiedenen europäischen Ländern umfaßte, (Wico L. J. Bunskoek, Kontakt der Kontinenten, Soesterberg (NL), Hanns Christhard Eichhorst, E.A. NRW Bonn (D), Teresa Freitas, C.E. Ribatejo, Santarém (P), Nina Nørgaard, IUC Svendborg (DK), Alessandra Pedagna-Leccese, C.E. Mario Zagari, Gaeta (I), Willibald Richter, E.Z. Graz (A), Tomáš Sedlák, E.D. Jihlava (CZ) und Richard Stock, ME Robert Schuman, Scy-Chazelles (F)) eingerichtet. Die Hauptziele des Initiativkomitees waren die Bildung einer ständigen Vertretung der Europahäuser bei den europäischen Institutionen, die Schaffung eines neuen europäischen Netzwerkes mit eigener Rechtspersönlichkeit und die Beschaffung von europäischen Finanzhilfen. Was haben wir zu Stande gebracht? EUNET ist offiziell im Dezember 2004 entstanden. Das European Network for Education and Training steht andren NRO, die dieselben Ziele wie die Europahäuser verfolgen, offen und zählt heute mehr als 60 Mitglieder in etwa 20 Mitgliedsstaaten. Das Europäische Parlament, der Ministerrat und die Europäische Kommission haben den Europahäusern und ihrem neuen Netzwerk EUNET im Laufe des Jahres 2006 nacheinander mehrmals ihr Vertrauen ausgesprochen. EUNET bezieht im Rahmen des neuen Programms "Europa für Bürgerinnen und Bürger" - eine direkte strukturelle Finanzunterstützung. Auch wenn durch diesen Betriebkostenzuschuß die europäischen Institutionen die Bedeutung und die Qualität der Tätigkeit der Europahäuser anerkennen, leistet diese Unterstützung des europäischen Netzwerkes dennoch nur einen sehr indirekten Beitrag zu den Aktivitätsbereichen der Europahäuser. Deshalb hat EUNET Frau Margot Wallström, Vizepräsidentin der Europäischen Kommission vorgeschlagen, sobald wie möglich mehrjährige Ausschreibungen für Einrichtungen, die ein gemeinnütziges Ziel im Bereich der Informations- und Bildungsarbeit zur europäischen Bürgerschaft verfolgen, und die einem Netzwerk auf europäischer Ebene angehören, einzurichten. In Zukunft, das heißt ab 2010 wird EUNET die Generaldirektion Kommunikation der Europäischen Kommission dank der legalen Grundlagen des Programms "Europa für Bürgerinnen und Bürger" um direkte Hilfen für die Europahäuser für ihre Informations- und Bildungsarbeit bitten. Am Ende meiner Amtszeit als Gründungspräsident von EUNET, habe ich das Vergnügen festzustellen, daß alle Ziele, die sich das Initiativkomitee gesetzt hatte, erreicht sind: Das gute Image der Europahäuser im Europäischen Parlament, im Ministerrat und in der Europäischen Kommission ist wiederhergestellt; das neue Netzwerk existiert und funktioniert dank der Bezuschussung durch die europäischen Institutionen; Die Europahäuser können wieder frei an Ausschreibungen der Europäischen Kommission teilnehmen und viele von ihnen führen zur Zeit Projekte mit finanziellen Hilfen der EU durch. Ich möchte ebenfalls all denen bestens danken, die sich an meiner Seite engagiert haben, und die die Freuden und Mühen der letzen drei Jahre mit mir geteilt haben: den Mitgliedern des Initiativkomitees und ganz besonders Hanns Christhard Eichhorst und Wico L. J. Bunskoek für die finanziellen und materiellen Hilfen, die Sie an das Netzwerk geleistet haben. Mein Dank gilt auch Jeanne-Françoise Hutin und Georges Garot, die jeweiligen Präsidenten der Europahäuser von Rennes und Laval, für ihre Unterstützung im Europaparlament. Ohne die hervorragende Arbeit unseren Ständigen Vertreters, Thomas Heckeberg, hätte EUNET seinen mehrjährigen und großen Strauß von Netzwerkaktivitäten nicht entfalten können. Ich vergesse nicht die Europahäuser, die im vollen Vertrauen akzeptiert haben, drei Jahre lang ihren Mitgliedsbeitrag (manchmal erhöht im Vergleich zu ihren eigenen Mitteln) zu leisten, um die Schaffung des Netzwerkes zu unterstützen. Geeint sind wir effizient gewesen! Was müssen wir noch machen ? Auch wenn diese erste Legislaturperiode erfolgreich zu Ende geht, bleiben dennoch viele Aufgaben, die einer guten Weiterführung bedürfen. Nina Nørgaard, die sie zu meiner Nachfolgerin gewählt haben, wird die Aufgaben haben, die Betriebkostenzuschüsse von EUNET zu verewigen und die europäische Finanzierung der Informations- und Bildungsarbeit in Verbindung mit der GD Kommunikation auszuweiten. Die wichtige Uberarbeitung der europäischen Programme in 2009 muß ab sofort auf allen Ebenen vorbereitet werden: im Europäischen Parlament, im Ministerrat und natürlich mit allen Abteillungen der Europäischen Kommission. Innerhalb von EUNET wird das neue Beitragssystem, das ab dem 1. Januar 2008 in Kraft tritt, eine Ausweitung des Netzwerkes durch den Beitritt neuer Mitglieder erlauben. Wir müssen ebenfalls unsere beiden Komitees verstärken: den grundsätzlichen Ausschuß für Methoden und Inhalte, der besonders bei den Ausschreibungen der europäischen Institutionen präsent sein soll und den strategischen Ausschuß für Entwicklung und Kooperation, der sich besonders in die Plattform der internationalen nichtstaatlichen Organisationen des Europarats einbinden soll, um Partnerschaften mit anderen Netzwerken zu initiieren. Der letzten Herausforderung möchte ich mich übrigens augenblicklich ganz besonders widmen. Bis bald also, dort in Europa, wo die Union Stärke beweist.

The Houses of Europe, which had met together on March 20, 2004 in Otzenhausen formed a steering committee for the foundation of a new European network which initially included eight members from different European countries. : Wico L. The main objectives of the steering committee were the creation of a permanent representation of the Houses of Europe to the European institutions, the establishment of a new European network with legal personality and the obtaining of financial aid from the EU. What have we ACCOMPLISHED? EuNet was officially formed in December 2004. The European Network for Education and Training is open to other NGOs who pursue the same goals as the Houses of Europe and now includes more than 60 members in about 20 member states. The European Parliament, the Council of Ministers and the European Commission have expressed, alternately, and on several occasions during the year 2006, their confidence in the Houses of Europe and their new network EuNet. EuNet benefits from direct and structural financial support within the scope of the new programme "Europe for Citizens". Even if by this operating subsidy the European institutions recognise the value and quality of the achievements of the Houses of Europe, this support for the European network contributes only very indirectly however to the activities of the Houses of Europe. Therefore, EuNet proposed to Mrs Margot Wallström, the Vice President of the European Commission to establish, as soon as possible, calls for proposals running over several years which are specific to bodies pursuing non-profit interests in the field of information and training on European citizenship federated at European level. Later, that is to say from 2010 on, EuNet will ask to the Directorates-General Communication of the European Commission to provide direct aid to the Houses of Europe for their education and information work thanks to the legal basis of the programme "Europe for Citizens". At the end of my term in office as founding president of EuNet, I am pleased to announce that all the objectives that the steering committee had set are reached: the good image of the Houses of Europe is restored in the European Parliament, the Council of Ministers and the European Commission; the new network exists and operates thanks to subsidies from the European institutions; the Houses of Europe can again freely participate in the calls for proposals of the European Commission and at present many of them carry out projects financed through European aid. I also wish to thank all those who have committed themselves on my side and who have shared the joys and sorrows of the past three years with me: the members of the steering committee and especially Hanns Christhard Eichhorst and Wico L. J. Bunskoek for the financial and material assistance they have provided to the network. My thanks also go to Jeanne-Françoise Hutin and Georges Garot, respectively chairwoman and chairman of the Houses of Europe of Rennes and Laval for their support in the European Parliament. Without the excellent work of our Permanent Representative, Thomas Heckeberg, EuNet could not have unfolded the huge and long-time bouquet of network activities. I don't forget the Houses of Europe that trustingly agreed to pay the membership fee for three years (sometimes high in relation to their own means) to support the establishment of the network. United, we have been efficient! What else do we have to do ? After this successful legislative period, there remain many tasks to be carried out successfully as well. Nina Nørgaard, whom you have elected as my successor, has the responsibility of perpetuating the operating subsidy of EuNet and of expanding the European finances to the education and information work in conjunction with the Directorates-General Communication. The important revision of European programmes in 2009 will have to be prepared from now on at all levels: in the European Parliament, the Council of Ministers and, of course, with all the departments of the European Commission. Inside EuNet, the new system of contributions which comes into force on 1st January 2008 will allow us to expand the network through the admission of new members. We shall also consolidate our two committees: the fundamental one on methods and contents which should especially be influential on the calls for proposals from the European institutions, and the strategic one for development and cooperation which must especially work through the Council of Europe platform for international non governmental organisations to build partnerships with other networks. It is to this final challenge that I want to devote myself in particular. So see you, over there in Europe, where the union makes us strong!

Nina Nørgård - Chairman
EN Nina became Danish coordinator for the Model European Parliament Conference (1994), a board member of the NL-based Model European Foundation (1998) and was co-founder of the Model European Parliament - Baltic Sea Region (2001). In 1998, she was awarded the Munksgård prize for American Voices - a book project on the USA in the 1990s. Within IUC-Europe , she became a board member in 1998 and chairman in 2000. Having been co-founder and vice-chair of Youth 2002 (with thirteen partner organisations), she was project manager for Youth 2005 - a European Year of Citizenship project organised with Brandbjerg Højskole and New Europe. In 2003 she took IUC into membership of the DARE (Democracy and Human Rights Education in Europe) network. Nina Nørgård was a co-founder of EuNet - becoming in 2004 network vice-chairman and coordinator of the Committee on Contents and Methodology.
Nina Nørgård, EUNET's neue Präsidenten, studierte Englisch und Skandinavistik an der Universität Kopenhagen. Ihre unterrichtende Kariere begann an der VUC (Erwachsenbildungszentrum) Amager, wechselte später an das Sankt Annæ Gymnasium - wo Sie 1991 internationale Koordinatorin wurde und einen Arbeitsplatztausch mit der Le Sueur-Henderson High School in Minnesota unternommen hat. 1996 ging Sie für ein Graduiertenstudium in Lehrplanentwicklung zurück in die USA und als Gastdozentin an die University of Southern Maine, um dort europäische Bildung zu unterrichten. Nina wurde dänische Koordinatorin für die Model European Parliament Conference (1994), Vorstandsmitglied der Model European Foundation (1998) und war Mitgründerin des Model European Parliament - Baltic Sea Region (2001).1998, erhielt Sie für American Voices den Munksgård Preis - ein Buchprojekt in den USA in den 90-er Jahren. Hanns Christhard Eichhorst - Senior deputy chairman and treasurer Hanns Christhard Eichhorst ist Mitbegründer von EUNET und seit der Gründung 2004 dessen 1. Vizepräsident und somit Schatzmeister. Geboren 1955 in Bielefeld (Ostwestfalen) ist er seit 1984 nach Jurastudium in Bonn hauptberuflich in der politischen Bildung tätig. Von 1994 bis 1998 war er Leiter des politischen (Jugend-)Bildungswerks "Verantwortung in Staat und Gesellschaft". 1998 wechselte Hanns Christhard Eichhorst als Studienleiter zur damaligen Europäischen Bildungs- und Aktionsgemeinschaft (EBAG). Seit 1999 gehört Hanns Christhard Eichhorst dem Vorstand der Gesellschaft der Europäischen Akademien , dem Zusammenschluß der deutschen Europahäuser und Europäischen Akademien, an. Seit November 2003 ist er Vorsitzender der deutschen Föderation. Seit Februar 2002 ist Hanns Christhard Leiter der Europäischen Akademie Nordrhein-Westfalen .
Hanns Christhard Eichhorst was a co-founder of EuNet and has since the network was founded in 2004 been senior vice-chairman and treasurer. Born 1955 at Bielefeld (East Westphalia), he has since 1984 (when he completed legal studies in Bonn) been engaged in political education. From 1994-98 he led the (youth) education institution "Verantwortung in Staat und Gesellschaft" (Responsibility in State and Society). In 1998 he became director of studies with the then Europäische Bildungs- und Aktionsgemeinschaft (EBAG). He became head of the education side of the institution when it changed its name to Europäische Akademie Nordrhein-Westfalen - and in 2002 head of the whole institution. Hanns Christhard has since 1999 been a board member of the Gesellschaft der Europäischen Akademien , the association of German Europe houses and academies - and chairman since November 2003.
L.J. (Wico) Bunskoek - Second deputy chairman EN Wico Bunskoek was born in Enschede NL on 10th August 1946. "I have been working in Kontakt der Kontinenten Soesterberg since 1970, after finishing social studies. Later on I studied business administration. In 1986 I became general manager of Kontakt der Kontinenten (KdK), which is a so-called residential high school, dealing with the themes international cooperation, migration and religion - besides which KdK operates as a conference hotel with approx. 140 hotel rooms and all other facilities in the middle of the Netherlands: Soesterberg. Wico Bunskoek wurde am 10. August 1946 in Enschede (NL) geboren. Nach Abschluss meines sozialwissenschaftlichen Studiums arbeite ich seit 1970 in Kontakt der Kontinenten (KdK). Später habe ich noch Betriebswirtschaft studiert. 1986 wurde ich Geschäftsführer von Kontakt der Kontinenten, welches eine so genannte Heimvolkshochschule ist und sich mit den Themen internationale Zusammenarbeit, Migration und Religion beschäftigt. Daneben arbeitet KdK als Konferenzhotel mit ca. 140 Hotelzimmern und den dazu notwendigen Einrichtungen in der Mitte der Niederlande: Soesterberg. Ich bin Mitglied des Vorstands einiger Organisationen die im Bereich internationale Zusammenarbeit tätig sind, wie die
Seit der letzten Mitgliederversammlung in Salzburg werde ich 2. Vize-Präsident sein. Was ich als 2. Vize-Präsident im EUNET Präsidium machen möchte ist mit den anderen Präsidiumsmitgliedern zusammen zuarbeiten an der weiteren Entwicklung von EUNET; Projekte der Europäischen Kommission mit dem Hintergrund zu identifizieren und voranzubringen, die nicht nur eine Kooperation verschiedener Europahäuser bedeuten, sondern auch mit Institutionen die vielleicht Teil eines anderen Netzwerks sind. Richard Stock - Vice-chairman
EN Richard Stock, EuNet chairman 2004-7, has happily agreed to remain with us as vice-chairman for the next three years. He is, of course, also president of the Maison de l'Europe Scy-Chazelles near Metz.
DE Richard Stock, EUNET Präsident von 2004 bis 2007, hat sich freudig bereit erklärt uns als Vize-Präsident weitere drei Jahre erhalten zu bleiben. Er ist natürlich gleichzeitig Vorsitzender des Europahauses Scy-Chazelles in der Nähe von Metz.
Tobias Bauman DE Tobias Baumann arbeitet seit 2000 als Studienleiter an der Europäischen Akademie Berlin. Er ist verantwortlich für Konzeption, Realisierung und die Leitung von Seminaren und Tagungen an der Akademie. In seinen Bereich fällt u.a. die Pflege von Kontakten zu Partnern in Osteuropa und zur Bundeswehr.
Von 1995 bis 1999 war er freier Mitarbeiter für den Deutschen Akademischen Austauschdienst (DAAD), Bonn.

Tobias Baumann has since 2000 worked as a programme director at the Europäische Akademie Berlin . His special field at the Academy is democracy development and international dialogue towards Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Previously (1995-99) he freelanced with the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) in Bonn.Tobias is a historian by education, specialising in post-war German-Soviet history. He studied at Heidelberg, Berlin and Moscow. The establishment of EuNet is a great success for all of us. In order to keep Europe and its spirit alive it is our task to cooperate across national borders. EuNet is the fundament which we should make use of to develop this cooperation. The main instruments we have so far within the EuNet structure are the general assembly and the two committees. As a board member I would like to strengthen the idea of committees' activities. A committee consisting of four to six member institutions is in my opinion the best forum for efficient cooperation. The challenge is to overcome distance, to get enough funds and - for sure - to keep ourselves active with EuNet projects and issues. This is a challenge, because Europe is big, every institution is rather lacking of money and everybody is fighting every day with his or her own overload schedule. The European Academy Berlin, which I represent, has been a forum for international dialogue and civic education since 1963. Europe and the European Union is the main focus of the activities of the Academy. The organisation of seminars and conferences on European issues, directed at opinion formers from Germany and abroad, figures prominently among the tasks of the Academy. Journalists and teachers, politicians, scientists and researchers are the main groups of participants at the Academy. In addition, the Academy arranges lectures by foreign political figures on a regular basis, so as to enable opinion-forming personalities in Berlin to familiarise themselves with other attitudes and a wider perspective point of view.
Marilena Sokianou EN I feel extremely honoured to have been elected as a member of the EuNet board and should like to thank all the colleagues who trusted me and supported my candidacy with their vote. I hope and believe I shall be able to contribute to the promotion of the work and goals of EUNET putting myself at the disposal of our network, which I intend to serve with hard work. As I strongly believe that teamwork is the basis of success I look forward to collaborating with our President, Vice-presidents and the other members of the board for the best possible result. I am Greek. I was born in Alexandria Egypt, being the second generation born there and the third living in Alexandria as a member of the large Greek community there. I graduated from the Averofion Greek Senior High School of Alexandria (1961) and left for Greece - and especially the beautiful island of Rhodes, where I studied (1961-63) at the Hotel and Tourism Boarding School of Rhodes, the best of its kind still today in Greece. After graduation I worked for five years in hotels. Having two very young children I decided to study in the Greek Guides' School. I graduated in 1970 and worked for fifteen years as a guide in English, French and Italian. After passing exams in the above three languages I was licensed by the Ministry of Education and taught languages for about ten years. In 1989, after succeeding in special exams I attended together with my eldest daughter Pandion University in Athens - where I studied Political Sciences - International Relations, graduating in 1992. Since 1992 I have worked in our family business, which concentrates on importing hotel equipment/fittings. I still help with that part-time - but essentially am retired. In 1999 we founded the House of Europe in Rhodes - of which I was the Founding President (1999-2001) and first elected President (2001-2003 and 2003-2005). Now I am the Secretary of the House. I have a long experience in other clubs too:
I speak English, French and Italian fluently and I can manage if necessary in Spanish, Arabic and German. I am learning Russian now. Married since 1965 to Dinos Sokianos, I have two daughters and five grandchildren.
Ich fühle mich extrem geehrt zum Mitglied des EUNET Präsidiums gewählt worden zu sein und möchte mich bei allen Kolleginnen und Kollegen, die mir vertraut haben und meine Kandidatur unterstützt haben, bedanken. Ich hoffe und glaube in der Lage zu sein, indem ich mich für unser Netzwerk zur Verfügung stelle, einen Beitrag für die Arbeit und das Erreichen unserer Ziele leisten zu können, was ich beabsichtige mit harter Arbeit zu tun. Da ich stark daran glaube, dass Teamwork die Basis zum Erfolg ist, freue ich mich auf die Zusammenarbeit mit unserer Präsidentin, den Vize-Präsidenten und den weiteren Präsidiumsmitgliedern, mit dem Ziel zu den best möglichen Ergebnissen zu kommen. Ich bin Griechin. Ich wurde im ägyptischen Alexandria geboren, als zweite Generation die dort geboren wurde und die dritte Generation die dort, als Teil der großen griechischen Gemeinschaft, lebte. Ich absolvierte die Averofion Greek Senior High School in Alexandria (1961) und ging nach Griechenland - insbesondere auf die schöne Insel Rhodos, wo ich an der Hotel and Tourism Boarding School of Rhodes, bis heute eine der Besten ihrer Art in Griechenland, studierte (1961-63). Nach dem Abschluss habe ich fünf Jahre in Hotels gearbeitet. Mit zwei sehr jungen Kindern entschloss ich mich an der griechischen Fremdenführer Schule zu studieren. Nach dem Abschluss 1970 arbeitete ich fünfzehn Jahre lang als Reiseleiterin in den Sprachen englisch, französisch und italienisch. Nach einer Prüfung in allen drei erwähnten Sprachen wurde ich durch das Bildungsministerium lizenziert und unterrichtete 10 Jahre lang Sprachen. 1989, nach erfolgreichen Spezialprüfungen, studierte ich, zusammen mit meiner ältesten Tochter Pandion, an der Universität Athen Politikwissenschaft und Internationale Beziehungen, und schloss dies 1992 ab. Seit 1992 habe ich in unserem Familienunternehmen gearbeitet, welches hauptsächlich Hotelausstattung und Einrichtung importiert. Ich helfe dort nach wie vor gelegentlich aus - bin aber eigentlich im Ruhestand. In 1999 haben wir das Europe House of Rhodes gegründet - dort war ich Gründungspräsidentin (1999-2001) und erste gewählte Präsidentin (2001-2003 und 2003-2005). Jetzt bin ich Geschäftsführerin des Europahauses. Ich habe ebenfalls eine lange Erfahrung in anderen Organisationen:
